Next Wednesday (February 14th), our partner, the Southern California NIOSH Education and Research Center (SCERC) will be hosting the second of three virtual teaching seminars, presented by an author from The Lancet‘s “Work and Health” paper series (published this past October).

Next week’s guest lecture, presented by co-author Peter Smith, PhD, is titled: Why is Work an Important Social Determinant of Health?. It will take place from 5-6:30 pm PST (8-9:30 pm EST).

Dr. Peter Smith is president and senior scientist at the Institute for Work & Health (IWH) in Toronto, and a professor in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto, Canada. He has a master’s in public health from the University of New South Wales, Australia, and a PhD from the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Smith has extensive experience conducting research related to work injury and its consequences using large population-based surveys and administrative workers’ compensation data.
