We’re honored that The Forge: Organizing Strategy and Practice published our op-ed Sick and Unsafe: Trump attacks on worker rights is an attack on public health. The Forge exists “to elevate the strategy and practice of organizing….and by building connection and community among organizers and between sectors of the progressive movement.” It’s exactly the kind of platform needed to tackle today’s urgent challenges.
Our piece (first published August 2025) explores the growing imbalance of power between employers and workers. “This power shift hasn’t just changed paychecks—it has fundamentally altered the physical and mental health landscape for millions of Americans” (including chronic stress that harms mental health, cardiovascular health, immune function, increasing the likelihood of chronic diseases, from hypertension to obesity and diabetes).
We also detail how this imbalance is currently being supercharged by the Trump administration’s aggressive rollback of worker rights and its ongoing attacks against public employees and the agencies that protect workers (OSHA, NIOSH).
The result isn’t just unfair workplaces: it’s worsening mental and physical health crises for millions of working people.
Grateful to The Forge for amplifying this message and helping connect organizers across movements who are fighting for a future where all workers can thrive. Read the op-ed here: https://bit.ly/4fOFvSs
